Travelogue: Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore

Kempegowda International Airport (IATA: BLR) is an international airport serving Bangalore, India. It is operated by Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL), a public–private consortium. The airport opened in May 2008 as an alternative to increased congestion at HAL Airport, the original primary commercial airport serving the city.

The airport is named after Kempe Gowda I, the founder of Bangalore. Kempe Gowda I, locally venerated as Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda, or commonly known as Kempe Gowda, was a chieftain under the Vijayanagara Empire in early-modern India. He is famous for the development of Bangalore Town in the 16th century. He wrote Ganga-gauri-vilasa (transl. The play of Ganga and Gauri), a yakshagana (verse-play) in Telugu.

Travelogue: Muzaffarpur - Motihari Highway (NH 27) in Bihar

Central Government of India has done a very good job in maintaining high quality of national highways. I think the transformation started from Golden Quadrilateral project during Atal Behari Vajpayee's era and it has been pushed whole heartedly by the current government too. In this regard, the national highway between Muzaffarpur and Motihari which includes NH-27 showcases this construction marvel along with the amazing natural beauty of Bihar.

Here are some of the pictures from the National Highway between Muzaffarpur and Motihari:

Dholi is situated in Muzaffarpur district and Pusa, in Samastipur district of Bihar. Dholi-Pusa road is a road connecting the two places. The road passes through the hinterland of Bihar: green fields on both sides. Especially in the rainy season, the place looks like paradise.

Bakri Aur Bachcha

Poorer families in the village raise goats for income; and mainly children look after the goats. Kids take goats to the grazing ground, and we can often notice that some kids have their "favorite" goats to accompany them.

Once I was on my motorcycle when I interrupted a procession of goats and kids on the road. There was a little boy of about 5, and whenever I see boys of this age, I remember my son. So, this small kid resembling my son was holding a rope tied to a goat's neck. The kid and its goat both were startled seeing me on my motorbike. The kid got scared and the rope slipped from his hand. The goat, now free, moved faster and hit another goat with its horn. Thankfully its horns were tiny, and the other goat did not return the gesture; and hence no untoward event happened.

The kid must have got hold of the rope again and should have guided his favorite pet to the grazing-field. But the face of the scared kid dropping the rope because of me lingered in my mind for some time and, I was gutted in guilt...
